I hope my times can last, but I would be even happier if a new kid or one of the kids I know break them. "I kinda came out of nowhere and I hope even next year a kid comes out of nowhere and one day my times get broken. "I am glad I put up good times, but I also hope very soon FBA gets another kid like me," Panzarella said. He holds the school records in the 100 (10.56), 200 (21.06), and 400 (48.19), improving upon the school records he set last year. Panzarella hopes he's just laying a foundation of success for the First Baptist track team. "Realizing that I still had five years more of track was definitely exciting." After doing research I realized that I have the chance to run and that made me super happy. "During the year I was kinda started thinking, 'I've been doing all this work and I wouldn’t want to only have one more year of it.' I didn’t even know my times were at a collegiate level though. "I had no plans on going to run track for college until my junior year," Panzarella added. The senior chose to sign with USF, staying close to his Naples home. Panzarella said he really realized last year he could continue his track career in college. He wants those workouts to keep getting challenging, and keep working on his conditioning. The rest of us are cutting back on our workouts, but he's not. "Obviously getting offers and opportunities at the college level has brought another sense of 'I can do this' in him. He's always been working on his speed, but went in the weight room, worked on some things. This past summer, we got into some weight training. This is something I want to do.' I haven't seen a change in that at all in him. He's always decided 'This is something I want to work on. "He's always been a driven kid," Mitchell said. Mitchell mentioned that Panzarella's drive has propelled him. Panzarella had a chance to have an excellent sophomore season, but that was derailed due to the coronavirus pandemic. And the biggest reason I am motivated for this is because hundreds of kids have run my times or even better in the history of track but winning all three has only been done a couple times." "However, I said that this year I would do all three. "I would say last year, me and coach (Ryan) Mitchell had a debate for me either to do the 400 or the 4x100, and last year I chose the 4x100," Panzarella said. He chose the 400 after running on the 4x100 relay last season.
